Experience the Eclipse 2017

August 21, 2017 – 9:00AM – 11:45AM

DAY OF THE ECLIPSE: Monday, August 21, from 9:00AM -11:45AM

     The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History is hosting a public viewing event for the partial solar eclipse. DO NOT LOOK AT THE SUN WITHOUT PROPER EYE PROTECTION. 

• -Eclipse glasses will be provided to guests, while supplies last.

• -View the Eclipse through the telescopes in and around the Palmer Observatory.

• -Make a pinhole Eclipse viewer.

• -Make your own Solar Eclipse model activity for kids.

• -Watch the NASA feed in the Fleischmann Auditorium of the Eclipse from various points around the country.

     This is a Free Public Program, no registration is required. When you arrive Monday morning, signs will be posted from Museum parking lot to lead to the event. The Palmer Observatory is located to the right of the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. Please be aware this is a limited capacity event with limited parking. We encourage guests to carpool.

     The Eclipse will be broadcasted live online at https://www.facebook.com/sbmnh/ on August 21 from 10:00-10:30 AM.
