Water Wise Gardening Interactive Website –

Santa Barbara’s Interactive Website features many new features such as pages of water-wise garden types, with descriptions of each plant type used. Some features are:

-An extensive database with searchable information on over 1,000 water-wise plants.

-More than 300 garden photos grouped into garden tours and garden galleries, from private and public gardens through Santa Barbara County

-Helpful facts, resources, and guidance on garden design and practices

  Addtionally , there is an interactive plant list to create your own water-wise garden. A few examples of the 300 garden types listed are:

The biggest potential for water savings is outdoors. While a 15 minute shower uses 30 gallons, watering an average lawn for 15 minutes uses 700 gallons!
