Sheffield Reservoir / Parma Park –
The Sheffield Reservoir & Parma Park are listed under “The Best Town Walks & Things to Do” in Santa Barbara. There are miles of beautiful hiking within a relative close distance to the city, offering beautiful views and wide open spaces enjoy. It is family friendly and allows dogs and horses on the trails. As you relax and take in the mountain views, patches of flowers are everywhere. The historic Spanish-style reservoir, with its white walls and chunky turrets, makes for a pretty view as well. Because it was an open-air reservoir it can no longer be used under California regulations. There are many paths crisscrossing around the reservoir and the short walks are easy for kids. The Santa Barbara Mission
The iconic Santa Barbara Mission is one of the main focal points in the Santa Barbara Area. It has rich historical significance and is visited by many people throughout the year. It is over 200 years old and currently offers guided tours throughout the year. It is still home to a community of Franciscan friars, a beautiful church with a large and active parish; a museum and gift shop; a cemetery and mausoleum; and twelve acres of beautifully landscaped gardens.
The Santa Barbara Botanical Garden
The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden fosters the conservation of California’s native plants through gardens, research and education, and by serving as a role model of sustainable practices. The twelve sections at the botanical gardens are able to be visited throughout the year, or on a guided tour with a knowledgable and trained docent. You are able to learn about Native American uses of plants, the interactions of plants and animals, local geology, and the history of the Garden. Each section is vastly different from than the next, all hosting their own plants, look and feel.
